Cornell University The Johnson School at Cornell University

Instructional Lab

The Lab provides an opportunity to teach or use technology in your course. Typical use includes teaching specific software, teaching the class with the use of the computers (similar to the Parker Center), or schedule lab hours for student to get homework done with specific software that is used in your course.

The Instructional Lab (Workday Lab) has two laser printers, two laptop hook-ups, mounted overhead projector, 25 computers and one instructor's computer.

Hours
The hours Student Lab Consultants will be on duty beginning early September are from 8am to closing of the Management Library. The Lab is typically open at all times.

Printing
Printers are available for student use through the campus Net-Print program. There are four black and white laser printers in the PS Lab, two in the Library and two by the QuickStations on the classroom level. Each student receives a $100 allocation per year. At 8 cents a page for Johnson School black and white laser printers, the program provides 1,200 pages of printing. If more printing is needed, the student may choose to create their own Net-Print account which would charge directly to their bursar bill. Any of the over 100 Net-Print capable printers on campus may be used. However, their physical availability and cost may vary considerably. The color printer in the PS Lab may be used as well at a rate of 50 cents per page which includes the cost of the transparency or paper used.

Fax
There is a fax available in the lab for expected incoming and outgoing faxing. The phone number is 607-254-5341. Incoming faxes will be placed in an adjacent tray for your pickup. You must use your credit or calling card for outgoing faxes, for which instructions posted by the fax. You should consider using the free service eFax to receive your faxes.

Software Offered
The Lab has the following software installed: Microsoft Office 2003 Pro, @Risk, WinFlow, Minitab, XLStat, Adobe Acrobat Reader, Internet Explorer, NetMeeting, QuickTime, RealPlayer, Windows Media Player, and more.

How to Get Software Installed in the Lab
Faculty who need software installed in the Workday Lab should contact Thomas Primerano (tpp5@cornell.edu) in advance of the semester the software is needed to discuss cost, impact, and necessary support.

How to Get Time Reserved in the Lab
