Here at Cornell University, we build on Ezra Cornell's unique and powerful 1865 vision: to found "an institution where any person can find instruction in any study."
The Johnson School Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI) collaboratively leads our community in promoting a culture that not only values differences but treasures them as sources of strength. Here, we promote inclusive leadership through open dialogue, knowledge, and skills to create positive change.
In ODI, we focus energy and resources on systemically and systematically strengthening our diverse community of students, staff and faculty. Through a variety of Johnson School, Cornell University, and national organizations, we provide services and promote networking to extend the power of:
- Individuals of every hue, particularly those with family origins in Africa, the Americas (including Latino and Native peoples)
- Women
- Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals
Furthermore, we actively engage all members of The Johnson School community in better understanding the widely differing realities within the American culture—some with great privilege, others without.
In concert with the Dean and other leaders, we help all members of the school community understand our mutual accountability for success in recruiting and retaining students, staff and faculty who reflect the full spectrum of society. In all that we do, we are determined to apply best practices of diversity and inclusion to our own work.
